New Zealand’s National Health & Welfare

Fortress New Zealand argues that we need to adopt a totally different concept of National Health and welfare.  We cannot continue to afford vast sums of money to be wasted on the National Health and welfare, trying to remedy the effects of poor diet, too little exercise and unhealthy lifestyles.  We cannot afford to continue to allow drinks companies, tobacco companies and junk food companies to adulterate and undermine the health of our young people.  It is a form of madness to permit ourselves to become unfit and unhealthy, and then waste millions on pharmaceutical drugs in a doomed effort to rectify this self-inflicted sabotage of our national health. We really need to entirely revision how we think about our lifestyles.

Fortress New Zealand calls for an end to welfare dependency; we cannot afford to pay people for not working.  The truth is that the welfare state has been a catastrophic experiment in social engineering that has spectacularly failed.  The society of the future will not tolerate anything less than full employment, simply because of the enormous amount of work that needs to be done to prepare ourselves for the challenges ahead.  We must create a culture of self-help and self-reliance.
