Fortress New Zealand is a new concept, which sets out to deal with the issues of global warming, climate change and peak oil in the specific context of New Zealand. This concept is explained in a new book entitled Fortress New Zealand by Robin Scott, which emphasises the importance of self-sufficient agriculture, renewable energy and sustainable local community development as essential for New Zealand’s successful survival through the gathering crisis and very serious threats ahead.
Fortress New Zealand argues that New Zealand needs to take a very different direction to current government policy if it is going to be able to feed itself, fuel itself and defend itself against future climatic pressures and external aggression.
