Group Discussion topic:

Shift to more Rural Communities

Thanks for joining our Yarn Traders newsletter!  I developed Yarn Traders as a trial business that could be run from home, to give me business experience, and to bring in a part-time income while studying.   It has been very interesting, and as I suspect that any import business has a limited life in the long term, it will be fascinating to see how the business grows and develops.  At present we are able to send some US dollars to Nepal and India, and I know that at least some of it is paid to the workers working with the re-claimed fabrics and fibres.

Well, this has turned in to a novelette...sorry about that!  I was quite amazed to discover that someone had just written a book about all the many issues that I felt so interested in, so thanks very much for getting that in to print.  I very much look forward to reading it.

All the very best, Helen Walker

The chart on page 16 was an excellent summary of the various scenarios but it may have been better placed toward the end where people can weigh them up after reading your views. It is probably a bit too much to take in at the beginning before people's minds become acclimatised to your thoughts. I was thinking of doing a follow-up book myself at some stage which covers many of the items you mentioned with regard to political correctness and general decay in society. However, I don't think I could do it as eloquently as you have done. It may be easier if I just recommend your book and save myself another couple of years of grief. Elsewhere your comments on stimulants are correct but are the hardest things for people in an Anglo-Saxon environment to give up. I am very jealous of your lifestyle where living closer to nature allows one to throw off such pointless habits and chattels. I guess I am addicted to convenience and am scared of stepping off the hamster wheel. Hugo Bouleau
